Born at Lane End Farm, Abney, Derbyshire, England on February 1, 1928, he went to school in Peak Forest and lived in Smalldale, England. Norman farmed and was a maintenance man for different companies as well as had his own farm and maintenance company. At the age of 75 he was still able to do a headstand and was always challenging himself to learn new things and try new opportunities that came his way.
