October 21, 1942 ~ August 27, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we are announcing the sudden passing of Ursula on the evening of August 27, 2025 at the age of 82 years.

Ursula was born on October 21, 1942 in Bünde, Germany. She moved to Canada in 1981 with her first husband and spent several years in St. Albert, before settling in Cardiff. Mom loved living in the peaceful and green setting of Cardiff.

She met John in 1991, and the two of them were active volunteers with the community and the Rural Crime Watch. They took many trips to see car races with the Dowler family; they enjoyed several cruises and they spent winters in Victoria. In all their activities they made many lasting friendships.

Mom greatly enjoyed the German Ladies group and their pot luck dinners with songs and stories. Mom worked hard, and had many talents. She excelled at baking, cooking, knitting, crochet and embroidery. Her real talent was sewing. Mom was a trained seamstress and was a wizard at sewing. She made beautiful suits and clothing all her life. Mom loved to drive, and always told the story of how she learned to drive on her brother’s 47 Beetle that had the brake connected with a rope. We will miss her dearly.

Ursula was predeceased by her parents Alma and Heinrich, and brother Heinz.

She is left to mourn by her loving husband, John Dowler of 34 years; daughter, Andrea (Detlev) Tenter; grandson, Christian (Sarah) Eckert; daughter, Christine (Dwayne) Schmidt; and Olly the Westie; the Dowler family; as well as extended family and friends in Canada and Germany.

We would like to thank our families, friends and neighbours for all the support during this difficult time.
