May 30, 1936 ~ February 16, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Albert Otto Saunders announce his passing on February 16, 2026 at the age of 89 years.

Albert was born on May 30, 1936 in Barrhead, Alberta to Joseph and Lila Saunders. Albert grew up on a farm near Manola, Alberta. On June 25, 1960 he married the love of his life, Julie. Together they raised five children. Albert loved spending time outdoors, especially at the family farm, in the mountains, and at Camp Nakamun. He also enjoyed going on drives with his family, whether it was a short Sunday drive or a longer trip to go camping or visit relatives. Albert was a devout Christian and a faithful member of the Sturgeon Alliance Church for many years.

Albert will be forever remembered and lovingly missed by his children, Stephen, Alan, Anne (Rex), David (Darcy), and Donald (Nancy); grandchildren, Emma, Ryan, Trent, Mallory, Marshall and Ivy; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Albert was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years Juliette “Julie” Saunders (nee McCauley); his parents, Joseph and Lila (nee Lane) Saunders; his sister, Frances; and brother-in-law, Paul Slemming; and brother, Charles Saunders.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Citadel Care Centre in St. Albert for their care and attention that they showed to Albert during his stay.
