April 10, 1934 ~ March 17, 2026
It is with great sadness that the family of Lois Marlyn Schroter of Bremner, Alberta announce her passing on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at the age of 91 years.
Lois’ parents Percy and Blanche welcomed Lois into the world on April 10, 1934 in Kinmount, Ontario. The family eventually moved to a farm near Bobcaygeon, Ontario. At an early age, Lois began to forge a path, working at resorts in Ontario and West Virginia, and then obtaining her Teacher’s certification in Ontario. She went on to teach in Toronto until she met Robert Schroter whom she married in December of 1956.
Lois moved to Alberta upon marriage to Robert. They lived for the first couple of years with Robert’s parents in their home in Bremner (now called Bremner House) while our father built the home that he and our mother Lois would live in for the rest of their married lives. They had a very busy life with farming activities and raising five children. Lois was an active part of the farming operation whether it was milking dairy cattle, feeding and training horses, or any other thing that needed doing. She loved gardening and cooking for her family and dedicated her life to creating a warm and loving home.
At the time of Robert’s death in 2023, they had been married over 66 years. Lois was a loving mother to Kirk, Karen, Jerri, Bradley and Brent. She had six grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. We all learned tremendous lessons from Lois and will forever remember the memories of love shared with her.
Lois became an accomplished oil painter in her later years and loved spending time creating beautiful pieces. Her family will treasure those as the years pass. She also loved to learn and had a natural curiosity about things. Lois had a zest for life, loved being busy and active, but always had time for family and friends.
She was the heart and soul of our family.
There will be a private family celebration of her life in the months to come.
