It is with great sadness that the family of Shay Lyle Fries announce his passing in Edmonton, Alberta on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at the age of 55 years. Shay was born in Edmonton, Alberta to Albert and Gail Fries on December 26, 1970.

Shay will be forever remembered and lovingly missed by his wife, Laurie (nee Fischer) Fries; children, Hunter, Gauge, and Shelin Fries; Parents, Albert and Gail Fries; brother, Kyle Fries; mother-in-law, Shirley Fischer; brother-in-law, Kirby Fischer; nieces, Hailey Fries and Renai Clemmer; nephews, Korwin, Kyler, and Kaleb Fischer; great nephew, Max Clemmer; as well as numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family and friends.

Shay was predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents; uncles, Ron and Clair Fries; aunt, Lorraine Gazdag; and two cousins, Jake Fries and Haven Hoffarth.

Celebration of Life

Family has chosen that a celebration of life will be held in the fall along with a memorial goose hunt, date to be announced.
