Elizabeth “Betty” Sawatzky

August 2, 1926 – January 3, 2019

Heaven just got a little brighter when our Mom passed away peacefully on January 3, 2019. We have so much to be grateful for as our Mom loved her family first and foremost.

Born in Aberdeen, SK on August 2, 1926 to the late Julius and Maria (née Freisen) Schellenberg, she was one of 8 and was predeceased by her 7 siblings. Along with being a Mom, she was a Grandma, a sister, an aunt, a friend, a homemaker, an Avon lady, a store clerk and a volunteer to name a few.

If you asked Mom how she was doing, she responded with “super duper”! Mom was faith-filled, never a complainer and had a quiet strength that saw her through battles with breast and bladder cancers, strokes and a heart attack. She was kind to all and always had a smile. She possessed endless musical and sewing talents, loved a good joke and the sound of laughter. She will be missed for her creativity, sense of humour, goodness of heart, but mostly for her love of family and friends. Mom always said she had the “3 best kids in the world”, but we know we had the best Mom in the world. Missing her dearly are her children, Garnet, Kevin, June (Rick Buchanan) Sawatzky; grandson, Kyle Ross; she is also missed my numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Wetaskiwin for the care and compassion provided.

Following her wishes, there will be no funeral; cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, donations to your local Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.

Taylor’s memory will forever be cherished and missed by her mom and step-dad, Lisa & Robinson Allen; her dad and step-mom, Terry & Leeann Cardinal; sisters Olivia and Stella; grandparents, Lynn & Helen Abbott, Terry & Judy Cardinal, Doug & Linda Allen, Yvonne Kellar-Fuller; uncles and aunties, Michael (Rachel) Abbott, Greg (Jessica) Abbott, Kathy Chrunik-Cardinal, Trevor (Korina) Cardinal, Steve (Sherri) Allen, Chris (Quinn) Allen, Laura (Rob) Dawson. Her memory will also live on through her special cousins, many extended family members and numerous friends.

Taylor loved being around her family and many friends; they were all a treasured part of her life. She was known for her kind heart, great sense of humour, her beautiful smile and that infectious laugh. Taylor loved all music, loved to dance – no matter where it was, and she was that special spark lighting up the room.

Taylor had an artistic soul and had a love for travel. She was the happiest in the mountains or on the beach.
