September 8, 1979 ~ January 30, 2026
Brandy Alana McIsaac was born on September 8, 1979, in Fort McMurray, Alberta, and passed away on January 30, 2026, in Edmonton, Alberta.
She was a bright light to anyone who had the privilege of hearing her laugh and seeing her true smile. Brandy was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, niece, and friend.
Throughout her life, Brandy met and touched many people along her journey—from her school days in Redwater, Alberta, where she excelled academically and formed lifelong friendships that remained a comfort to her throughout her life, to her adventures in Victoria, BC, and her many years in the Edmonton, Alberta area.
She was full of life and had a deep passion for books (a love she passed on to her niece), music, cult films—Empire Records being a favorite—art, and stylish haircuts. She had a way of leaving an impression wherever she went.
Brandy faced many struggles throughout her life, including challenges with physical health, mental health, and addiction. Yet in the final year of her life, she showed remarkable determination and courage. She was deeply committed to working on every aspect of her life and was beginning to see a brighter future for herself. She spoke with great fondness of the amazing people she met along her road to recovery and looked forward with excitement to seeing her therapist every Thursday. We are profoundly grateful to all those who saw her true light and walked alongside her.
Just as Brandy felt a window opening and could see the light at the end of the tunnel, her physical health took a sudden downturn and robbed us of a truly wonderful person.
In her final weeks, Brandy fought valiantly. One moment I, as her sister, will always hold close to my heart was a difficult day when she was admitted to the hospital on January 3rd. She looked at me and said, “All I want to do is sit in the hot tub and watch House.”* To make that day as calm and comforting as possible, we spent time looking at the doctors and nurses and deciding which characters they would be on the show—a small source of laughter during a very hard time.
From that moment on, all I wanted was to see her be able to do that one simple thing just one more time—and to see her smile.
So, in her honour, take a moment to sit back with a Coke or an iced tea, watch even just one episode of House, and think of Brandy relaxing in the hot tub, enjoying life without worry, and smiling.
Brandy will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Judith and Daniel McIsaac; her brothers, John Faulds and David Schamber (Renee Hooper); her sister, Lisa McKeown (Brian); her nieces and nephews, Laura (Rob), Kyle (Charena), Cam (Charlie), Chris (Alysha), and Callum; her five great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Brandy did not want a service or, as she put it, a “big fuss.” A private family gathering will be held later, possibly in the spring—when the flowers are blooming and the snow is gone, her favourite time of year.
Whether you knew her as Miss B, Aunt B, Brandini, Branflake, Auntie Brandy, or simply Brandy, we are so proud that she was so deeply loved and cared for in her short time with us.
Goodbye for now, our sweet Brandy.
