May 28, 1953 – October 27, 2019

Dennis Walter Bell passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at the age of 66 years. He is survived by Janet; his two children, Jesslyn and Carys; two grandchildren, Olive and Clover; two siblings, Jack and Linda; and his dog, Zelda. He lived with a passion for travel, chess, and playing piano. 

July 9, 1923 ~ October 28, 2019

Anna “Annie” Moore was born on July 9, 1923, to Gustav and Paulina (nee Marshall) Freier in Bernie, Manitoba but then quickly moved to Thunder Creek where she lived from 1924-1929 and then onward to the Asessippi District and finally to Russell. She went to school in Asessippi and Hudson School District from grade 1 to grade 8 and then stayed home to help on the farm. She met Rudolph Moore and got married on November 20, 1945; They initially farmed with his parents but found a farm to rent in 1946 where they quickly made it their home for over seventeen years. During their years they were blessed with three sons and one daughter; Arnold in 1947, Vernon in 1950, Carl in 1953, and Marleen in 1960. In 1963 they moved to Arden and continued mixed farming for the next ten years. In 1973 they ventured west to Brooks, Alberta to be closer to the boys who had moved to Calgary and started new careers in their lives. Anna excelled in her favorite new job as a gardener at the Alberta Horticultural research Center in Brooks. Rudolph worked as a construction and maintenance repair supervisor. Rudolph passed away on April 22,1999. Anna stayed in their Brooks home for another 10 years before moving to a senior center in Brooks in 2009 and after another 6 years, in 2015 she moved to a senior center in Edmonton to be closer to her daughter and sons. In 2018 she again moved to new home, a long term care home, after her stroke. Anna had a real passion for gardening and her home in Brooks was always beautiful and the garden always flourished. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her many dear friends old and new. 

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Arnold and wife Linda; grandchildren, Kevin and Karen; great grandchildren, Espen, Stian, and Indie. Her son, Vernon and wife Victoria; grandchildren, Andrew and Lindsey; great-grandchildren, Dreyas and Tyson. Her son, Carl and wife Connie; grandchildren, Robert, Michael, and Christopher; great-grandchildren, Skylor, Serina, Chloe and Callie. Daughter, Marleen and husband Denis; grandchildren, Corey and Christine; great grandchildren, Eli, Isaac, Lewis, Alex, Oliver and Cadence.

She left a legacy of love for all of those touched by her life.

October 1, 1937 ~ October 23, 2019On October 23, 2019 Colin passed away peacefully, after a long hard battle.

He touched the lives of many, anyone who ever met him knew he had a story, a fix and would always be a friend. A man of many trades and hobbies, he loved to keep busy fishing, hunting and lending a helping hand.

On October 28, 2019 Ada passed away peacefully in her sleep.

Anyone who met Ada knew she was the kindest and most generous person you would ever meet. She always had time to chat or have a coffee. If you ever stopped in she always had something to fill you up, if it was supper time she would always tell you not to worry I’ll throw another potato in the pot.

Colin and Ada left behind to cherish their memories their children, Kevin (Deb), Colleen (Glen), Karen (Larry), 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, brothers, sisters, in-laws, outlaws and numerous extended family members. Colin and Ada enjoyed doing many things together including camping, fishing and traveling. Their travels, whether with family or friends, was always something they loved. When they returned, they would tell many stories and talk about the antics that took place for a long time after. Their travels took them too many destinations including Hawaii, England, Florida and Jamaica just to name a few. They both enjoyed volunteering at the Legion, museum and were actively involved in the community. Colin and Ada both received volunteer of the year from the Town of Gibbons, which is a true testament to their dedication to the community. Colin and Ada enjoyed spending time with friends and their greatest joy was spending time with their family whom they were extremely proud of.

September 14, 1945 – October 5, 2019

Glen passed away suddenly in Edmonton, Alberta on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the age of 74 years. Glen was born on September 14, 1945 in Digby, Nova Scotia to Weldon & Grace (nee Hirtle) Rawding. As as a young adult he made his way out West with his wife to Alberta where he leaves behind his daughter, Denise Rawding; grandson, Jesse James; his dog, Nakita; and cats, Ally and Pesky. He also leaves behind his siblings, Arvilla and Elwood (Carrie); as well as numerous extended family and friends.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Donna Rawding (nee Mckenzie); his parents, Weldon & Grace (nee Hirtle) Rawding; his sister, Jean; and his brother, Russell.

At Glen’s request cremation has taken place.

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Roger George Tieulie of Legal, Alberta announce his passing on September 29, 2019 at the age of 80 years.

Left to cherish his memories are his three daughters, Christine, Michelle and Jackie; his three grandchildren, Chad, Daniel and Cayla; as well as three great grandchildren, Carsen, Christian and Linden; four brothers, Maurice, Gerard, Louis and Paul; two sisters, Fernande and Suzanne; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Jean and Mary Ange; siblings, Lorraine and Marcel.

Roger was an amazing man and loving father with a temper like a firecracker. He taught his daughters and grandchildren many things throughout his life. He did not always live an easy life but he certainly lived a full one: from fancy cars, to raising and barrel racing horses, to traveling in his big rigs across the country side. This man could fix anything and if he couldn’t fix it he would jimmy rig it somehow to make it work. Roger will be missed dearly.

January 21, 1943 – September 26, 2019 

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Lillian Marie Martens on September 26, 2019 at the age of 76 years. A loving devoted mother, grandmother and friend to all whose lives she touched.

She was born January 21, 1943 in Erickson, Manitoba to Steve and Anne Katchur. She is survived by and lovingly remembered by her children, Alvin, Debbie, Dwayne, and Cheryl (Jim); grandchildren, Chelsea, Aaron, Riley and Taylor; and all those she loved and touched deeply.

Lil lived a full life as a wonderful mother, homemaker and worker in the property management sector while still a farm girl at heart. Most of all she loved her family and instilled in them strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Those who knew Lil know she hated being fussed over and would rather give than receive. In lieu of funeral services and to honor Lil’s character we ask that all who wish to participate make a donation to your favorite charitable organization on the 77th anniversary of her birth January 21, 2020.

May 21, 1949 – August 28, 2019

Cliff passed away in his sleep, at the age of 70 years, after a lengthy stay in hospital and a losing fight with pneumonia. Cliff was born in Grande Prairie and spent his early years in Wembley and then in Edmonton. After his marriage to Earla in 1972 they moved from Edmonton to Stony Plain to Vauxhall to Redwater.

Cliff leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Earla (nee Carefoot); son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Kelly; his precious granddaughter, Tayten; as well as his sister, Alice ; sister-in law, Heather; and a huge array of extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Earl; his mother and step-father, Mary and Nik Lautner; and his two brothers, Gordon and Kennith.

It can’t be said that Cliff had an easy life but he did enjoy it. A trucking accident when he was 40 changed the direction of his life, but it didn’t stop him from appreciating his favorite hobby of fishing and sharing fishing stories with his friends.

Cliff’s family would like to express a very special thank you to all the staff at the Redwater Health Centre who made his stay there so comfortable.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Doris Joyce Marjorie Carleton (nee Gervais) on August 30, 2019 in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. She leaves to mourn her loving husband of 69 years, William (Bill) Carleton; Children, Tom (Fidelina), Kirk (Bernice), Penny Frazier (Tom), Chris (Penny); Grandchildren, Amanda Prefontaine (Cory), Adam Carleton (Anna), Evan Carleton (Nicole), Trisha Carleton, Clint Frazier, Emma Frazier (Christan), Riley Frazier, Cole Carleton (Heidi); Great-grandchildren, Bailey and Avery Prefontaine, Lily and James Carleton; Sisters, Celia Conley and Anne Trembly (Louis); Sister-in-law, Doreen Pawluk; Step grandchildren, Will Remmen (Jill) , Lorelei Muyres (Shane), Leanne Tubbs (Blaine), Chris & Warren Bates; Step great grandchildren, Austin, Kolton & Colin Muyres, Brendan, Tristan & Cameron Tubbs, Damon, Seth & Makayla Bates; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.

Doris was predeceased by her parents, Mederic and Mae (nee Williams) Gervais; siblings, Leon, Donny, Anita and Gail, and granddaughter Tara.

Doris liked to refer to herself as a coal miner’s daughter with fond memories of growing up with her family in the Cardiff area.  She married the love of her life, Bill, in 1950 and went on to raise four children on their family farm near Bon Accord. Doris was very active in the community – volunteering countless hours to many good causes and making countless good friends over the years. She loved the outdoors – gardening in the summer and taking her “snow pictures” all winter long. She was an artist at heart and enjoyed drawing, painting, knitting, sewing, needle art, copper enameling, leather crafts and anything that required a creative mind and steady hand. She was always up to try something new. Doris was also a great writer and wrote two memoirs: When I was A Child and The Next Chapter as well as numerous poems. She probably loved spending time with children more than anything though, and leaves behind so many happy memories with all the little hearts she touched in her life journey. She will be very much missed by everyone who knew her.

On August 15, 2019, Edith Mae Kowalski (nee Jenkins) formally of Bon Accord, passed away at the age of 89 years. Born of Bon Accord pioneers, Edith Mae always maintained her passion for making the most out of life. There were always new adventures to explore, despite hardships. Her talents ranged from gardening, flower arranging, crafting, copper enameling, knitting, macramé, weaving, lapidary, cake decorating, cooking, dancing, and helping out on the family farm. These tasks are now completed as her life’s journey has reached its end and she is reunited with the love of her life, Stan.

Edith is survived by her son, Kevin and Bear; daughter, Tami and Lloyd McArthur; as well as numerous family and friends. 

Her smile and ability to get along with anyone will be missed by so many.
