August 13, 1938 ~ June 30, 2026
Edward “Ed” Wurtz passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at the age of 87 years. He laid down for his morning nap and woke up in the presence of God.
Born on August 13, 1938 in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Ed was the son of Micheal and Katherine Wurtz. He grew up on a farm in the Grande Prairie area with his six brothers and two sisters. Ed married Vera Shenfield in 1968 and they would have four daughters. Ed loved working with his hands and spent his occupational years in sawmills as a saw-filer. He also spent many years homesteading and was gifted in carpentry work. He loved playing his guitar and singing gospel music. His greatest legacy however is his steadfast faith in the Lord. He spent countless hours reading his Bible and praying for his family. “A good man leaves a legacy for his children’s children” Proverbs 13:22a
Ed leaves behind his wife of 58 years,Vera; daughters, Kate (Spencer) Remple, Elaine (Dan) Forsberg, Coral (Todd) Brand, and Sharon Wurtz; grandchildren, Colt (Bree), Dillon (Aysha), Reece, Brina, Hudson (Ashten), Nathan, and Alyssa; brothers, Albert (Judy) and Winston (d. Barb); as well as brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Ed is predeceased by his parents; four brothers, Eldon, Norman, Bob, and Franklin; two sisters, Melva and Violet; as well as many loved extended family members.
