In Loving Memory of
Elizabeth “Jill” Flaherty (nee Hyatt)

January 10, 1945 ~ December 18, 2025

With deep love, we share the passing of our Mom, Elizabeth “Jill” Flaherty, at the age of 80 years, on Thursday, December 18, 2025.

She leaves behind her daughters, Shawne, Jennifer (Bryan), and Darlene; her grandchildren, Amy (Eli), Ellen, Lucy, Branden, Travis (Alexandra), and Evan (Cheyanne); her great-grandchildren, Luca and Aubrey; her brother, Eric (Narumi); as well as her nieces and nephews in Ontario and B.C.

She is reunited with our Dad, her husband, Robert “Bob” Flaherty. Mom was predeceased by her brother, Keith (Fran) and her niece, Christine.

Mom began her nursing career in Ontario and later moved to Penticton, B.C. where she worked at Penticton Regional Hospital until retirement. After Dad’s passing, she settled in St. Albert to be close to family and her grandchildren. When she came to Alberta from B.C. she worked for the Loseca Foundation and remained connected with many people there after full retirement.

In her earlier years, Mom loved to travel—especially to the U.K. She also enjoyed visiting family in Ontario. In her later years, Mom enjoyed daily walks, aquasize classes, and coffee with friends. But most of all, she cherished time with family.

Mom was once a competitive figure skater, this stayed with her all her life. It showed in her love of movement and strength.

Most likely she is now lacing up her skates, ready to join Dad (a hockey player) on the ice . We know she is surrounded by family and love, and her many furry companions are waiting there too.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has been a part of Mom’s life over the years, and to her doctors and specialists who helped guide and support her through these past few years.

Jill will be buried alongside her husband Bob in Penticton, British Columbia, in the spring. There will also be a Celebration of Jill’s life in St. Albert, Alberta, details to be announced at a later date.
