September 7, 1961 – July 7, 2025
It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Ernest Wilson Lloyd Keast on July 7, 2025, at the age of 63.
Ernie was born on September 7, 1961 in Cold Lake, Alberta, the youngest child of Ernest Keast and Ann Jackson and brother to Mona, Andrea and Tracy.
Ernie was a Red Seal welder with an Inspectors Certificate. He was known for his work ethic in his field of expertise and was very dependable. Ernie’s interests were all kinds of sports, especially hockey (go Oilers!). He loved the outdoors, which included, hunting, fishing and gardening. Dore Lake was always a special place for him. He lived on a beautiful acreage just outside of Legal, Alberta.
In later years, Ernie embraced his native heritage. He created the most amazing dreamcatchers, which he sold across North America. He graciously gifted his beautiful work of art to family as well.
Ernie was an avid animal lover, especially his 3 dogs (his “kids”). Anywhere he went, they were right by his side.
Ernie will always be remembered for his caring heart and compassionate soul, especially with his mom. His little crooked smile and giggle will not be forgotten.
Ernie is predeceased by his father, Ernest Keast (August 1961) and his mother, Ann Jackson (February 2024).
He will be lovingly remembered by his family: Dad, Red (Ruth) Haughn; his daughter, Amanda Rimes (Matthew) and grandson, William; son, Andrew Haughn; older sister, Mona Fairless (Greg) and nephew, Johnathan; younger sister, Andrea Haughn and nieces, Brittany (Nathan), Katherine (Norm), and Jacy (Chris); younger sister, Tracy Ruszkowski (Todd) and nephews, Vincent (Desiree), and Landon (Alannah); great nieces and nephews, Liam, Theo, Grace, Ozzie, Emry, Maddie, Kyan, Jake, Isaac, Tobias, Viktor, Ila, Natalia, Aria; as well as numerous extended family, loyal friends and beloved pets.
Ernie will be missed dearly.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
