Ernest “Ernie” Steve Kuffner

April 1, 1966 – June 23, 2018

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ernest “Ernie” Kuffner announce his sudden passing June 23, 2018 at the young age of 52 years.  Ernie is survived by his loving wife, Trudy; children, Breanne, Julia (Jeff) Hurst, Brent (Alex) Gauthier and Joel Gauthier; his grandchildren, his pride and joy, Jonah, Jocelyn, Chloe, Dax, Evangeline, Jade and Jewel.

Ernie was born April 1, 1966 in Regina, Saskatchewan spending his youth in Cudworth, SK with his many sisters; Gail, Nadine, Marian, Natalie and Diane.

At 17 Ernie joined the military in 1983 as a PPCLI (Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry), he was then posted to Esquimalt, BC, then Baden, Germany, and in 1989 to Winnipeg, MB where he obtained his remuster to Military Intelligence. Once training was completed he was posted to Kingston, ON, where he met his wife Trudy and their great circle of friends Dean, Wayne, Dan, Glen, Carla, Derrick just to name a few of many, and held numerous potlucks.

In 2000 Ernie was posted to Edmonton, which included a tour to Bosnia, Afghanistan and 1 final tour to Italy (Naples), Ernie retired in 2014 after 31 years of service, changing one uniform for another and joined the Corp of Commissionaires.

He was happiest being with family especially his grandkids.  Ernie also enjoyed spending time fixing cars, working on the acreage and with his hunting buddies especially Cy (Eileen) who became his brother in scouting, fishing and hunting.
