December 31, 1940 ~ February 17, 2026

It is with sadness and loving memory that we announce the passing of Joseph “Joe” Clarke Pollard on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at the age of 85 years.

Joe was born in Edmonton and grew up on a farm in the Fort Saskatchewan area with his parents, Benjamin and Josephine Pollard (nee Clarke) Pollard, along with his brothers and sisters: Leonard (Florence) Pollard, Enid (Emel) Ziesman, Joan (Doug) Anderson, Dorann (Lewis) Young, and Bill Pollard. He is predeceased by all except for his sister, Dorann Young.

He always told stories of growing up on the farm, the horses he cared for and his long travels to school. As a young man, he attended the first class ever held at N.A.I.T in 1962 for Communication Electrician Apprentices and went on to work for AGT, which later became Telus, until his retirement at the age of 57 years. He enjoyed his faith, his dogs, his garden, camping, boating, a good conversation, and spending time with family and friends. He was always ready and willing to lend a hand or fix what needed fixing.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary-Alice Pollard (nee Karran), who he met while they were both working at AGT. Together, they had five children, Susan (Cam) Kenny, Jean (Sean) Donahue, Amy House, Mary-Jo Milligan, and Matthew (Rosa) Pollard. Followed by ten grandchildren, Michael (Damara) Donahue, Shea (Clinton Sime) Donahue, Samantha Kenny, Robert Kenny, Anna-Marie (Dimitri) Efimoff, Joseph Milligan, Shane House, Alexandra (Ethan Gustke) House, Olivia Pollard, and Adam Pollard. He recently welcomed a great granddaughter, Natalia Efimoff. He is also remembered by his many nephews, nieces, extended family, and friends.

He is predeceased by his infant great grandson, Weston Gustke.
