December 6, 1945 ~ October 9, 2024

It is with great sadness the family of Leonard George Sucharyna announce his passing on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at the age of 78 years.Leonard was born on December 6, 1945 in Alonsa, Manitoba to John and Katie (nee Szyjak) Sucharyna. He grew up in Alonsa with his two brothers Thomas and Paul. Being from a Ukrainian family he was lucky to have his Baba living next door where he got to spend time with his cousin Mervin. Leonard left home at a young age to go to Winnipeg in search of employment where he secured his first job at a candy factory. Through out life he would find work in plumbing, carpentry, auto body repair, tow truck driving, property management, Sears, loader operator and after retirement farming. Throughout his adult life he lived in Neepawa, Riding Mountain, Edmonton and finally Redwater. On July 24, 1964 at 19 years of age Leonard dedicated himself through baptism, to be one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He maintained a love of the Bible and his God Jehovah throughout his life. Leonard found the love his life Judith Bays and they wed on December 16, 1967. Their marriage was to be blessed with their son Jerry and his three boys Parker, Connor and Spencer. Their daughter Jayde, her husband Jason and their boys Jude and Jackson. Their youngest daughter Janessa and her husband Rylan. Leonard loved his family and enjoyed all the time he got to spend with them. He made many memories with his grandsons while cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays, the Edmonton Oilers and sharing stories of his tow truck days. He also loved to dance and tell stories that would have everyone laughing within minutes. He had a large collection of shot glasses and ball caps, but his favourite collection that brought him great comfort was his collection of family photos. He was always very close with his brothers Thomas (Jeannette) and Paul (Marlene) even when health declined he did his best to keep a relationship with them. In later years his declining health required him and Judith to move in with Jayde and her family. Though it was a big change it allowed more time with his grandsons that he enjoyed spending time with. Leonard was predeceased by his son Jerry who passed in a car accident in 2018, his parents John and Katie, his 6 month old brother Nicholas, and infant sister.
