May 30, 1942 ~ December 26, 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Jane Swan announce her passing on December 26, 2021 at the age of 79 years.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Jim; their four children, Jim (Wendy), Paddy Jo (Howie), Christine (Don), and Andrew (Monique). Her sense of humour, love of music, and gift of storytelling will live on in the hearts of her beloved grandchildren, Hannah, Madeline, Grace, Josephine, Sarah, Owen, James, Erik, Jack and Emmett.

Mary Jane was born in Indian Head, Saskatchewan but spent most of her life in the Edmonton area. She raised her family in Sherwood Park before retiring to Riverdale. Mary Jane was an avid reader, golfer and traveler. She created a home that was a warm, welcoming place filled with good food and great conversation. Wherever she went, Mary Jane collected stories and friends. She will be remembered forever as the ‘life of the party’, friend and confidant, gracious hostess, and the funny, wise, beautiful matriarch of our tribe.

Mary Jane’s family wishes to extend our deepest thanks to the staff and volunteers at Pilgrims Hospice Society, who cared for her with such tenderness and cradled us all in their gentle support. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving a donation to Pilgrims Hospice in memory of Mary Jane.
