April 29, 1929 – September 7, 2021

Reta passed away peacefully on September 7, 2021. She is survived by her children, Barry of Edmonton, Dan (Marg) of Whitehorse, Jane of Leduc, D’Arcy (Carolyn) of Sherwood Park; grandchildren, Tracie, Shane, Charlie (Kara), Lonnie (Don), Reta, Kate (Aidan), Theresa-Dawn (Curtis), Bradley (Nicole), Kathleen (Devin), Riley, Carter; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Joy Trott of Calgary; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Chuck in 2007 and son Jim, in 2004.

Reta and Chuck were married on March 17, 1948, and moved immediately to Whitehorse, Yukon. They spent the next 20 years moving across Canada and France with his army postings before settling in Edmonton in 1969 when he started at M.E. LaZerte High School and Reta at Eaton’s Londonderry, soon after it opened. They were avid bowlers and played in numerous leagues wherever they were posted, lastly in Edmonton until 2007. They loved playing cards and Reta was always ready to play any game of Rummy with whomever was willing. After retirement they were members of the Londonderry Mall Walkers Club and the Northeast Edmonton Seniors Association Golf League. They spent their family vacations camping, with their favourite destination being The Yukon. Reta loved to read, knit, do crossword puzzles, and play cards.

Reta will be remembered as a kind, loving woman who had a marvelous smile and generous heart. Her family was everything to her and her passion was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as her long-time neighbour and friend Keith Walsh. She will be lovingly missed by all.

The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at the Vermilion Valley Lodge and Sherwood Care who treated our mom and grandma with care and kindness.
