1937 ~ 2021

Violet Theresa Knezacek (nee Rigg) of Edmonton, Alberta daughter of the late Joseph and Sally Rigg passed away on December 8, 2021 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital at the age of 84 years, after a long battle with COPD and other underlying issues. She was with her eldest children and able to say goodbye through video message to all her family.

Vi was always a strong, determined and independent woman. She immigrated to Canada in 1955 at age 18, from St. Annes on sea Lancashire, England. She always said it was one of the best decisions she’d ever made. She married and had 7 children. She eventually became a professional driver and was the first transit driver in Fort McMurray, Alberta. She retired in Edmonton, Alberta where she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was survived by her daughter, Linda (David Densmore); sons, Terry (Tammy Cummer), Joseph (granddaughter Victoria), Robert (Brenda Knezacek); brother, Michael Rigg,; sisters, Jacqueline Townsend, Elizabeth Betts ; As well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and friends.

She was predeceased by daughter, Peggy Knezacek; sons, Lloyd and Michael Knezacek; grandson, Michael (little mike) Knezacek; sister, Pam Howarth; and ex husband, Lenard Knezacek.

Violet left in peace, doing it her way.
We will all carry her strength in our hearts forever.

As to her wishes, cremation will take place with no service or visitation. She will be laid to rest at a later date.
