January 12, 1957 ~ May 22, 2026

It is with great sadness and a broken heart that the family of James Alton  Blakley  announce his passing on Friday, May 22, 2026 at the age of 69 years, after a courageous 28 year battle with cancer. 

Jim will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by his wife of 43 years, Wendy; his brothers, Don (Sunita) and Larry; sister, Debbie (Randy); numerous nieces and nephews; his beloved canine companions, Wylie and Abby; as well as numerous extended family and friends. 

Jim was predeceased by his father, Stan Blakley; mother, Grace Dunham; and brother, Bob  Blakley.

Jim had a passion for sports, woodworking, and was an avid lover of music. His favorite pastime was having jams with family and friends at Long Dogs Ranch. 

Wendy would like to extend a thank you to Dr Jeff Harris at U of A Hospital, the doctors and nurses at Cross Cancer Institute, the staff at the Morinville Homecare, St Albert Homecare, Edmonton Palliative Homecare, and the Fort Saskatchewan Paramedics, for all their support, care and compassion offered to Jim during his final years and support to the family during the difficult time.

Celebration of Life
A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date, at which time we will be celebrating Jim’s love of music.
