Denise was predeceased by her husband and soulmate of 53 years, Douglas Palmer in August 2019; brother, Lloyd Whelen; sister, Darlene Ward; parents, Earl and Beatrice (nee Bell) Whelen. Audrey, who went by Denise, was born on November 21, 1945 in Victoria, British Columbia to Earl and Beatrice Whelen. Family meant everything to our Mom. She was happiest organizing large family gatherings and during them, you would initially find her in the kitchen cooking and later in the evening kicking up her heels on the dance floor. Her smile was infectious, especially when she reeled in a Big one while fishing or hit the Big one at the casino. She wore many hats in her lifetime but the most important ones to her were her “Grandma”, “Mom” and “Wife” hats. Her heart was large and this was known by all who knew her. She always had an open door policy to anyone who wanted to stop in. Since losing the love of her life, our dad, she could not wait to be reunited with him. Now that her wish has been granted, you are going to be missed dearly. “We Love You Mom”

“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard but always near, still loved, still missed and held so dear.”

Due to the current Covid 19 situation a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
