October 27, 2024 ~ July 26, 1958

Daryl Gregory Ross, aged 66 years, passed away on October 27, 2024. Born in Saskatchewan, he spent his life in the Edmonton area. Daryl had a number of health issues from the time he was a baby and dealt with asthma and then COPD his entire life.

Daryl’s health issues were the least captivating aspect of who he was. In his later years, his health became the most frequent topic of conversation when people inquired about him. We choose to remember him for the more dynamic aspects of his personality and his interests.

His nickname was Buppy. It was his first word as a baby. He had an infectious laugh if you were lucky to hear it. As a kid he loved Red Skeleton and later Monty Python and SCTV. He had a sharp sense of humour. He was huge music fan. Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd, Queen, and lots of prog rock shook the house when he was a teen. He made great chili, loved popcorn and ice cream, and ate his Kraft dinner straight from the pot. Don’t ask to share – you weren’t getting any. He loved Christmas and was known to count presents under the tree. He looked forward to baked salmon at Christmas dinner. He had no time for gossip – he really wasn’t interested. You could be in the same space all day with him and never have a conversation. He was comfortable with silence. He always had time for a nap – at his house, or your house. He loved animals and owned cats and dogs most of his life. He was a life-long Montreal Canadiens fan. He had a keen interest in photography and documented many camping trips and life around the farm on film. In later years, he spent many hours doing woodworking. He liked reading or watching history and nature programs. Daryl loved his mom, Vera, and it might not have seemed

apparent to some, he was grateful for his sister Myrna’s help in his final years navigating his health issues. He was stubborn, but he lived his life the way he wanted to.

Daryl leaves behind: his sister Myrna, his niece Keltie, and his nephew Steven. He was predeceased by his father Lawrence, his mother Vera, and his brother Barry. Daryl had many cousins in Alberta and Saskatchewan as well as childhood friends.

Upon passing, Daryl requested no funeral take place. We kindly request that you remember him in your own way.
