April 7, 1953 ~ October 18, 2026
It is with deep love and immense sadness the family of Jaquie Simpson announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend, in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 18, 2026, at the age of 73 years.
Jaquie was born on April 7, 1953, in Lisburn, Northern Ireland to Eileen and Alfred Woods, and in the fall of 1955 she immigrated to Canada, settling in Cornwell, Ontario with her parents and older brother Charlie. In the early 1960’s the family moved to Chateauguay, Quebec.
Following her adventurous spirit, Jaquie moved west in the mid-70s and on November 11, 1978, she met her future husband and love of her life, Bruce Simpson. They would move to High Level, Alberta in 1979 and were married on August 30, 1980.
Jaquie explored many occupations including barmaid, barber, hairdresser, home care companion, and concluded her working career with five years at Costco. While in High Level, she ran her own barber shop, “Simpson Shears.”
In 1999, they moved south and made Morinville their forever home.
Always willing to try something new, Jaquie became a very accomplished Scuba Diver (enjoying trips to dive in Cuba) and riding her motorcycle.
Jaquie is lovingly remembered by Bruce, her husband of 46 years, her siblings, Charles (Margit), Carolyn, Valerie (Thomas), and David (Pat). She will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews who she was so proud of, along with extended family and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents and brother Werner.
Always a giving and compassionate person in life, Jaquie donated blood over 110 times, and in lieu of flowers, the family asks if you would consider registering with the Organ and Tissue Registry, therefore helping others, as Jaquie was able to do, providing sight to strangers, through her own donation. Please ensure your family knows your wishes.
As per Jaquie’s wishes, no funeral will be held and cremation has taken place.
Memorial Donations
In lieu of flowers and in memory of Jaquie’s selfless nature, the family would like to ask that you please consider registering with your local Organ and Tissue Donation Registry, and ensure your family knows your wishes. So you can help others just as Jaquie was able to do.
In accordance with Jaquie’s wishes no formal service is to be held and cremation has taken place.
