June 20, 1932 – October 30, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Karoly “Charlie” Mohai on October 30th, 2024 at 92 years of age in Edmonton, Alberta.
Charlie will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Sue (Laurence); his grandson Alex; his nieces and nephew, and a daughter AnnaMaria in Hungary. Also by his very close friends Els and Anton Thenu.
His larger than life personality will be fondly remembered by his many friends and caregivers at Shepherd’s Care Kensington in Edmonton, Alberta.
He is predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Eva and his son Charles Jr.
Charlie was born in a beautiful lake town in Balaton, Hungary on June 20th 1932.
He immigrated to Canada in 1956 where he met and married the love of his life, Eva. They were both so proud when they became Canadian citizens in 1965. They had two children, a son Charles Jr. and a daughter Sue. Family was everything to Charlie.
Charlie had a successful career in the construction industry until his retirement. He was proud to say that he helped build Edmonton. He loved to fish and camp in the outdoors with his many Hungarian friends. Charlie was a loyal Edmonton Oilers fan rarely missing a game.
Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Charlie’s name would be a fitting tribute to his memory.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
