March 13, 1955 – February 20, 2021

On February 20 at 9:30pm Richard Hanson peacefully left Redwater Hospital and went home to be with Jesus.

39 years ago Rick committed his life to Jesus. From that point on he devoted his life to serving God by studying the Bible and teaching it to others. He wasn’t a perfect person, but by the grace of God He is now in the most perfect place.

Rick was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandpa, and pastor. He leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Darlene; his three sons, Matthew, David and Andrew; his brothers, Gordon and Lonnie; his sisters, Bonnie and Carol; his grandkids, Crystal, Myla, Ava and Thea; his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Rick is now with his mother, Marjorie; father, Harry; and sister, Linda.

Though he is gone, he will never be forgotten. Though we grieve as a family, we anticipate the day we will be reunited.

Memorial Service

There will be a invite-only Memorial Service on May 22, 2021.
The service will be held in Newbrook, Alberta where he had been pastoring for the last 13 years.

March 6, 1938 ~ February 20, 2021

Born in Loon Lake, Saskatchewan to Frank and Agnus Bodoano. Don and his older brother Denis grew up together on the family homestead in Loon River District. Don attended Loon River school until grade 8, when he quit to play hockey in the local playoffs. Dad enjoyed time spent hunting, fishing and trapping with his cousins Eddie and John Lantz.

In those years Saskatchewan farm boys were in demand, so finding employment was not too difficult. Don worked on threashing, logging, construction crews, and also as a lineman for CN Rail which transitioned into long term employment with AGT. Don did a variety of work for AGT but identified most closely with the life and work on the road with the guys on the tower crew.

When Don first came to Alberta in quest of employment, he found a second home with Jake and Leota Unrau. Conveniently the Powell family were neighbours and their daughter Linda caught Don’s eye. This lead to their marriage on January 9, 1960, followed by the birth of Wendy Lou (1960), Sandra Kathleen (1962) and the last addition of Jason Charles (1970).

Don and Linda’s first home in Edmonton was a rented basement suite with a shared bath. Later they moved on to the Powell farm and then in 1967 the family moved into a NEW house in the Steele Heights area of Edmonton. However their country roots and love for “wild spaces” led them to an acreage North East of Gibbons were they built their dream home in 1974. Don’s family time was spent coaching both softball and hockey, camping trips and horse activities. Don had a life long passion for horses, especially thoroughbreds and racing. Don was a fan, an owner and a breeder with varied success in every aspect of the sport.

Don was also very proud of his grandchildren and took much pleasure in watching them play hockey, rugby, football and equine sports. He was equally pleased to add the “GREAT” to his title when the great grandchildren started to arrive.

Life invariably has it’s trials, Don suffered his greatest loss with the decline of his loving wife’s health. In 2009 Linda was diagnosed with Alzheimer and remained on the farm thru Don’s determination and commitment along with the support of family and friends. Don and Linda were able to celebrate their 60^th anniversary before illness conquered their ability to cope. Linda was placed in care at Aspen House in June of 2020. Prior to this, Don’s attitude in life had been he could overcome any obstacle or repair the broken. This long struggle is what Don considered to be his greatest defeat because he couldn’t fix it. In the end, Don left us from the Home he built where so many memories were made and cherished by those friends and family who knew him best. Don will be forever remembered by his wife, Linda; children, Wendy (Chester), Sandy (Kevin) and Jason (Debbie); grandchildren, Amanda (Scott), Caleb (Taneal), Dylan, Zane (Candace), Lisa (Delton), Nathan (Stacie), Quinn (Erika), Lee (Sarah), Bradley (Autumn), Kimberly (Kyle) and Rayleen (Shane); great grandchildren, Emberly, Weston, Sage, Aurora, Ellie, Isla, Layalee, Avarie, Chloe, Gavin, Harrison, London, Edison and Annalina; brother, Denis (dolly); as well as numerous extended family and friends.

It is with great sadness that the family of Murray Hatch announces his passing after a long battle with dementia, on Monday, February 1, 2021, at the age of 70 years. Murray will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Kathy; his children, Kevin (Nadine) and David (Leanne); and fondly remembered by his 4 grandchildren, Jacob, Cooper, Zoe and Ava. Murray will also be forever remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. He is predeceased by his father, Roland; mother, Magna; and brother, Ken Hatch.

March 15, 1946 ~ January 27, 2021

We are sad to announce that after health complications due to hypertension and blood clots Gitta Mader passed peacefully on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the age of 74 years. Gitta was born on March 15th, 1946 in Apenburg, Germany to Berthold and Margareta Mader. Her family emigrated to Canada in 1952 and settled in the west Jasper Place neighbourhood. She graduated in 1964 and then attended NAIT in the very first class for Dental Mechanics (Denturist). After graduation she joined a practice in the Old Strathcona neighbourhood where she apprenticed with Walter (Dury) Armstrong, until she received her provincial license. They were associates and friends, working together until he passed away in 1994. In 1997, Gitta merged practices with fellow denturist, Dwayne Pasnak. They developed a professional relationship and friendship, that lasted over 24 years. She ran her practice for a total of 53 years, until December of last year. Gitta also worked in the casino industry for over 30 years, developing many long-lasting friendships with her coworkers. Gitta was a very skilled photographer and she gifted her family with photos from all of our special events. She loved to travel, especially to her condo in Hawaii, and many of her family & friends appreciated great vacations with her. Gitta will be fondly remembered by her many friends, patients and family.

June 20, 1935 – January 30, 2021

Peter was born to Joseph & Stella Wojcichowsky in Bonne Madone, SK on June 20, 1959. He was a part of a large family and had seven siblings.

Peter, better known as “Diesel Pete”, was employed by CN Railway prior to getting into the Oil & Gas industry where he then worked for Kaps Transport Ltd. Kaps is where he achieved the title of a ‘legend’, hauling on the Alaskan highway and then finally finishing his career with Lafarge, where he will be remembered as the #1 driver. Peter decided, unwillingly, that it was time to retire around 2014, creating a life, strong in love, by being primary caregiver to his beautiful wife Sophia, who passed in 2018.

Peter and Sophia met at Seba Beach, AB in 1956 and then married 3 years later on June 20, 1959. Their family grew with two beautiful children; Richard and Jacqueline.

Peter was a very enticing man who always had a twinkle in his eye and a chuckle in his belly. He will be remembered for his grin that would reach from ear to ear. If you were lucky enough to meet him, you know just how infectious that grin really was.

Peter will forever be remembered by his son, Richard (Sandy) Wojcichowsky and their children Casey (fiancé Brock Zagoruy), Megan, Brooke and Justin and by his daughter, Jacqueline Wojcichowsky and his grand puppies. Peter is also survived by his sisters, Anne Michayluk, Katie Taylor and Mary Hargraves; brothers, Steve (Gloria), Orest (MaryAnn) and Eddie (Evelyn); as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Peter was predeceased by his loving wife of 61 years, Sophia; his parents, Joseph & Stella; brother, Boris (Judy); and brothers in law, Walter Michayluk and Harold Taylor.

September 13, 1930 ~ January 2, 2021

Nick Nahaiowski passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the age of 90 years. Nick was born on September 13, 1930 to Katie and William Nahaiowski in Abee, Alberta. He attended school till grade 5 then began helping his father on the farm. After his parents passing Nick made his home at Redwaters Diamond Springs Lodge, in 2011 he relocated to Edmonton until his passing. Nick lived a quiet life enjoying his books, listening to music, watching tv and of course enjoying his chocolate. Nick was predeceased by his mother, father and sister. He is survived by his friend, Yvonne Armstrong-Earley.

July 25, 1931 ~ December 19, 2020

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Roy Mitchell Palamarchuk on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the age of 89 years. Roy will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Doug (Andrea) Palamarchuk and Dale (Ida Jean) Palamarchuk; grandchildren, Carmen (Brad), Lise (Trent), James, Kelsey (Paul), Sarah (Jerry); great grandsons, Theodore, Ryder and Gabriel; as well as numerous extended family and friends. Roy was predeceased by his parents, Mike and Helen (nee Hnidan) Palamarchuk; his sister, Margaret; and brother, Eugene.

July 19, 1952 ~ December 24, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patricia “Pat” Ann Roshko (nee Dary) on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at age 68 years. Daughter to Steve and Millie Dary; loving companion to Norman Borle; mother to Bill (Melissa) Ruether, Steven (Angela) Ruether, and daughter by choice,Tracy Gloubitz; grandmother to Austin, Madison, Liam, Isabelle and Anna; sister to Ken (Ruth), Dianne, Ron (Jayne), Bob (Melody), Georgina Kapitski (Lawrence) and Melvin (Darlene); as well as many nieces, nephews, countless friends and acquaintances.

Predecessors, her father Steve (1989) and brother Larry (1968).

She touched the lives of all of us and will be greatly missed. Pat was born in Vermilion, AB on July 19 1952, and raised on the family farm in Manville, AB. Pat had many talents including music, cooking, culinary art, cake decorating and her latest hobby of quilting. We will all remember her love of giving, her will to bring happiness to those around her and her gingerbread houses.

Cremation will take place with no services being held at her request.

In lieu of flowers Pat would have loved the idea of helping those in need, so any charity that helps those less fortunate would be where the family suggests memorial contributions be made. 

July 25, 1976 ~ December 22, 2020

It is with great sadness the family of Roxane Alexandria Rita Beveridge announce her passing on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the age of 44 years. She will be forever loved and remembered by her husband, Chad; their 2 children, Hannah and Jesse; her parents, Albert and Marlene Gruger; sister, Ramona (Todd) Woitas and their children, Haylee and Kelly; parent in-laws, Jim and Rose Beveridge; sister in-law, Jaymie (Chris) and their children, Kenzington and Kendall; Brother in-law, Scott (Leanne) and their son, Bruin; as well as numerous extended family and friends. Due to the current Covid 19 situation a private interment will take place in Gibbons Memorial Gardens and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

February 19th, 1983 – December 3rd, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Catherine Litwin Halonen announces her sudden passing. Cathy passed away on her family farm doing what she loved working with one of the people she loved most in the world. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, wife, daughter and sister. She was a best friend to many and an active participant in the community. Her goal was to live by the wise words of Senneca who said, “Not how long, but how well you lived is the main thing.” She always gave 100% of herself in every endeavour, and often shared wisdoms that were passed down to her from her grandparents. As a mother, she believed that working alongside her children was the best way to model and pass down knowledge and skills. She was a passionate steward of the land, growing organic grain, beef and vegetables. She worked with endless joy towards building a legacy on the land with her husband, children and parents. Leaving a positive imprint in all lives she touched, she held a deep belief that everyone deserved to be loved and should experience love, regardless of the circumstance. Just like Frank’s Red Hot Sauce, she sprinkled that sh*t (love) on everything.

Cathy will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dylan, and Tyson; her husband and highschool sweetheart, Tylor; her parents, Bev and Al Litwin; siblings, Andrew, Phillip (Cory), Amy; Grandmother, Shirley Axani; as well as many other close friends and family.

Cathy was predeceased by her loving grandparents, Joe and Lil Litwin, Metro Axani, and great grandma Lilian Smart.
